Set locale on Debian

Timezone, language, standard message formats.

The example selects Melbourne, Australia.

graham:~ sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

This offers all available timezones. Select Australia then Melbourne.

graham:~ sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales

This offers all available locales. Select for including on host: C.UTF-8 (if offered), en_AU.UTF-8, en_US.UTF-8.
Select system default locale: en_AU.UTF-8.

Logout and login again.
